The Five Words for Dr. Kenneth Cole
Innovative - Persistent - Global - Optimistic
- Fun
Innovative: "There
is possibility in everything. And this same approach applies to my
writing, problem solving and in generating creative ideas that resonate
with others and take programs into new and exciting directions. The
tired cliché, ‘thinking outside of the box’ goes
without saying. My approach completely negates the mere construct
of a box. This mindset fosters inspiration amongst peers and instills
a sense of ownership in all that we‘ve created and will create."
Persistent: "Once
committed toward a goal, I never let up. And when it comes to work
with an organization, children, schools and the larger community I
won’t relent until the job is done, and done right. The stakes
are too high and the opportunities too valuable to let one ‘No!’
or disgruntled colleague or contact get in the way ."
Global: "There’s
a world outside of my office and I realize that my efforts and the
vision of those around me will ultimately have an impact on that world.
When all’s said and done I want to ensure that my efforts not
only achieve a goal, but also respect and enrich the larger community."
Optimistic:
"A sense of and a belief in hope is key in all aspects of the
workplace and our lives. Kids always have the potential and insight
to harness that hope. Deep down adults posses a similar mindset, but
often lose sight of it. I embrace this sense of hope, this optimism
and maintain an upbeat approach and perspective on any day so that
work is not seen as a burden, but rather a rich part of my life."
Fun: "Dr.
Suess once said, ‘These things are fun and fun is good!’
Well, I’m a firm believer in that motto. At work or at home,
it’s imperative that we enjoy what we do. That‘s why I
write and illustrate kids books, speak to groups across the nation
and joke with friends and colleagues. It‘s my way of eliciting
laughter in others, something that remains elusive for so many."
